Susan Coleman Writes . . .

Soup

Soup is flavorful and nourishing.  It is often filled with a variety of ingredients, many of them totally unexpected.

I was struck one day with a question that apparently had been bothering me for some time.  This question was whether a truly "good" person could commit murder and the only way I could answer it honestly, was to create a story about a really good person.  That story is my book "Soup."

The reason I called the book "Soup," was because it is set in the Dust Bowl era, where soup kitchens abound.  The place is Ada, Oklahoma, where the heroine of my book spent a great deal of time donating her energy and time to a mass of people who were hungry and in need of f human compassion.  Kate Ryan is the substance of Soup; everyone else is the flavoring.

Kate is well respected, grew up in a protected environment, never wanted anything more than what she had in life and was considered by all to be the best of the best.  How then, did this special person become involved in murder, intrigue, lying and a dead body housed in a green crate in an attic?  Below are the cast of characters in Soup to help her on her adventure.  I hope you enjoy reading this book and thank you.

  • Nathan Malone -husband of Cluney Malone
  • Cluney Malone - wife of Nathan Malone
  • Margie Malone - wife of George Malone
  • George Malone - husband of Margie, son of Nathan and Cluney Malone
  • Jacob Malone - son of Nathan and Cluney Malone
  • Jennifer Malone - a daughter of Margie and George Malone
  • Kathryn Ryan Sheridan -  wife to Thomas Sheridan; good friend to Cluney Malone
